The article determines theoretical bases of foreign trade management. The main content and basic terms are examined. Special attention is paid to the difference between foreign trade management and in-house management. The article also examines characteristics of the main foreign trade management functions and instruments. Several examples of the Russian and foreign companies that use basic instruments of foreign trade management are provided. The necessity of different sectors development for foreign management is outlined. Several external strategies are examined and their peculiarities are revealed. The authors analyze the factors that infl uence strategic trends development on the external and internal markets. Particular emphasis is laid on the place of foreign trade management in the management system.
