Abstract

The article examines the role of innovation in the development of companies. The definition of “innovative potential” is revealed and special attention is given to the peculiarities of indexes for its valuation. The analysis of internal and external factors that influence innovative potential is given. The importance of managerial factors in implementation of companies’ innovative activities is shown. Characteristics of innovative consortiums, mergers and takeovers of companies, innovative territorial clusters in the development of innovative processes are described. Several examples of the Russian and foreign companies implementing innovative potential are examined.
