Trade in Services among Member States of the Eurasian Economic Union

Abstract

This article examines the dynamics of the aggregate volume of mutual trade in services within the Single Market for Services of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) from 2015 to 2023. Additionally, the changes in the total volume of mutual trade in services from the extended list of services of the EAEU member states for 2015-2021 is analyzed. Based on the results of a comprehensive study of the legislative framework and treaty-based mechanisms governing the formation of a Single Market for services in the EAEU, potential constraints that may negatively affect the unimpeded functioning of this market in the member states were identified. It is concluded that the Single Market of services not only establishes essential prerequisites for economic growth of the member states, but also presents substantial opportunities for their collective economic development. As part of this research, specific proposals and practical recommendations were formulated to overcome the identified barriers to types of services already integrated into the single services market, taking into account the specifics of each EAEU member state.
