Abstract

In the article the authors consider the causes and consequences of the referendum on the UK leaving the European Union in June 2016. The intrinsic regionalism factors that contributed to the backlash to the referendum questions are identified. Based on the results of the referendum, the authors analyze the possible difficulties in developing new terms of trade agreements with other EU states, as well as the options for the entire complex of relations with the European countries. The features of settling the trade issues within the World Trade Organization are revealed. Finally, the possible effects of the UK decision on Russia’s foreign trade are examined.
