Abstract

Under increasing competition leading economic agents try to find new means of non-price competition. In the article the trend towards open innovation strategy is considered. Th is strategy provides for widespread use of partnership links, in particular through web-based social networks. Quite oft en intermediaries are used to attract partners. Positive aspects of this strategy and some
important challenges constraining its implementation by companies (problems with the use of intellectual property, motivation of developers and problems of ensuring quality of developments) are revealed.
