Abstract

The article deals with the state of private pension provision in the UK, particularly its structure and characteristics of private pension schemes. The main trends in the private pension provision development and the factors playing a key role in the changes in the share of DB pensions schemes in its structure are considered. The author outlines the strategies pursued by the sponsors and trustees of DB pensions schemes. Special attention is paid to the future prospects of the private pension provision in the UK in view of the reforms in the pension provision sector that have already been carried out or are proposed by the Government to be implemented in the near future.
