Abstract

The Asia-Pacific economies have intensified their efforts in negotiating and signing the free trade agreements since the mid-1990s. About 70 free trade agreements were concluded over the past 20 years. The trend in recent years has been toward consolidating the regional economic
integration processes, launching the negotiations on next generation big-blocks comprehensive agreements. The Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) has become one of these consolidation blocks in the Asia-Pacific region.
