Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership: possible impacts on Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union

The article reveals the basic content and distinctive features of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) between the US and EU. The main focus is made on assessment of the consequences of TTIP creation for the third counties, particularly Russia and its partners in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The article describes the eventual direct trade and economic impacts for Russia and the EAEU (in trade, energy and investment spheres) as well as implications for EAEU positioning in the world trading system. In the author’s opinion, possible negative effects of the TTIP on Russia and the EAEU could be mitigated by means of pursuing strong EAEU trade policy in Eurasia, creation of comprehensive trade and economic partnership in this mega-region, which is also open for the EU.
