Africa, situated at the heart of global economic, energy and geopolitical challenges, has emerged as a key partner of major players on the world stage. Each country strives to turn this strategically important region into a lever for long-term influence. This is due to Africa’s abundant mineral resources, which many countries aspire to exploit. Amid a drastically shifting international landscape – where rivalries and alliances are being redefined on a global scale –Africa is increasingly perceived by major powers as a critical strategic domain. Numerous states are vying for influence across the African continent, with particular intense competition from Europe, the USA, and China. The positions of former colonial powers in Africa are being contested in this era of international rivalry. Meanwhile, mutually beneficial economic cooperation between African states and Russia continues to expand.
