Barter in International Trade

Abstract

Another round of sanctions in international trade prompts expansion of barter, a centuries-proven international trade method, a non-monetary exchange of goods and services. At present, barter transactions have been expanding due to de-dollarization. The development of the Internet with the web-based digital platforms contributed signifi cantly to expanding bartering. Hostile restrictive measures imposed by the United States against many countries, in particular Iran, have spurred the use of such platforms.
