Abstract

Тhe article examines the current trends in the service sector in Russia. The importance of service sector development in conditions of digitalization and the growing need to enhance import substitution is highlighted. Based on the statistical analysis, the estimates of structural shifts in economy are provided, and the dynamics of different service sector activities are described. The prospects for the service sector, which provides stable employment for about two-thirds of the labour force, are also analyzed from the perspective of the labour market. In the face of current challenges the role of the service sector in creating contemporary infrastructural, scientific-technical and human potential of the economy is very important.
