Abstract

The article examines peculiarities of companies’ behavior in the conditions of international competition. Modern changes in the views on the relationship between competition and cooperation are shown. Several factors that underpin competitive cooperation are examined. Special attention is paid to the meaning of partnership relations in different spheres, particularly in high tech industries. Comparative analysis of positive and negative effects of cooperation between competitive companies is made. Examples of such cooperation in international trade with particular focus on the problems are provided. Contradictions between purposes and results of the competitive cooperation are considered. It is essential to balance cooperation and competition between companies-participant. The importance of compatibility of partners’ business concepts is noted. The article offers key solutions to the existing problems. Development of partnership relations is defined for each stage of this process. Particular attention is given to assessing the results of the cooperation between companies-participants.
