Abstract

The article touches upon the methodological problems faced by experts while conducting research on the effect and evaluation of the effectiveness of sanctions as an instrument of countries’ foreign policy. After the start of the special military operation in February 2022, the countries of the collective West imposed a wide range of sanctions against Russia. The ongoing sanctions war against Russia has had significant economic and political effects globally, the assessment of which faces a number of methodological problems, since no economy similar in size to Russia’s has ever been subjected to such a wide range of restrictions in modern history.
