Abstract

Higher professional education is the key to any industry success in the world economy, and the transport industry is no exception. Modern global freight trends are characterized by high innovation that, given the complexity of technological, organizational and economic processes, require responsible and high-skilled workers at all stages of the freight shipping and delivery. Historically, all transport universities in Russia focus on a narrow sectoral specialization and train specialists for only one, basic, mode of transport.
In the article, the authors tried to answer two main questions: Does the government and business need highly professional transport experts-internationalists today and, if so, who should prepare them: transport universities or universities of foreign economic (foreign trade) specialization.
