Possible impact of EU-US economic sanctions on the Russian energy sector

Abstract

The article is devoted to the current issues of Russian-European trade-energy cooperation. It considers the conditions of Russian energy sources turnover with the main EU’s consuming countries. Besides, it examines the processes of Russia’s investment cooperation with the EU’s countries, especially Germany and the Netherlands, and also the current state of the implementation of joint energy projects. Therefore, the article defines the rate of the EU countries’ dependency on the Russian energy supplies, and the potential impact of economic sanctions against Russia that can be imposed by the EU. In conclusion the author reveals the extent of mutual economic losses in case of the development of the above-mentioned scenario.
