Abstract

The paper deals with the issue of international trade development in five Central Russia regions with similar industrial structure and economic level, and located in immediate proximity with each other. Indicators for foreign trade competitiveness evaluation are calculated for them: export/import coverage ratio, export competitiveness index. The main trends in foreign trade development in the regions are determined. Special attention is given to the analysis of crucial drivers that could enhance the integrating process of the Yaroslavl region economy into transnational innovation production systems. The clusters as a new class of local economic structures are in the focus of the research.
