Abstract

The article analyzes the origins of today's confrontation of the West and Russia provoked by the US policy and the events in Ukraine. Geopolitical and theoretical (neo-liberal) principles of information and economic warfare ("sanctions") against Russia are revealed. Restoring the trust and partnership between Russia and the West in many respects depends on overcoming the myths and false information, with proven facts and reliable statistics being the evidence base. The author of the article makes some proposals exemplifying the evaluation of the consequences for Russia and Ukraine of the forthcoming association of the latter with the EU, as well as a critical analysis of Russian ratings by international rating agencies.
