Abstract

This paper is devoted to the analysis of the views on bank defaults using theoretical models that are characterized by the financial crisis of 2008-2009 and particularly by the development of banking technology. The author pays special attention to the issue of incorporation of the financial
sector into theoretical models. Asset sales at fire sale discounts by distressed banks and inability to meet their obligations to other financial institutions are considered in the paper.
