In the article, the authors consider the process of entering foreign markets by a Russian company with a view to importing goods under new trade liberalization conditions. The initial organizational steps of the department responsible for conducting import operations - sending enquiries or posting them online – are analyzed. After receiving business proposals from the promising partners, the necessary comparisons on the technical and economic characteristics, in particular on the terms of payment, are made. After that, negotiations with foreign partners are held; a contract is concluded and executed.
