Abstract

Export credit agencies have existed for more than a century as a tool of supporting exports and trade. The number of crises since 2000 requested from ECAs to reconsider their toolkit used for supporting national economies. Thus, ECAs have been transforming from institutions initially engaged in mostly insurance operations into the ones providing both insurance and banking services, offering not only insurance coverage for export and import operations, but also the tools of supporting banks as well as direct financing and lending.
