International Experience of Using BIM Technologies in Construction

One of the key trends in the international construction industry is the introduction of information modeling (BIM) technologies. Now the level of prevalence of information modeling technologies in the Russian Federation is significantly lower than in the countries that are leaders in the use of BIM technologies. The key features of international experience in the application of information modeling technologies are considered; the advantages of BIM technologies at various stages of the project life cycle are highlighted. The article examines the features of the Russian experience in the implementation of BIM technologies, identifies the sources of problems in the implementation of these technologies in the practice of Russian companies, and formulates the key factors that affect the level of prevalence of these technologies in Russia. The qualitative and quantitative benefits for companies from the introduction of BIM technologies are shown, and a conclusion is made on the prospects for the development of information modeling technologies in the Russian Federation.
