Abstract

The article summarizes the research results of the world trends in the methodology developments and policy applications of composite indices for socio-economic development, including the need for the recovery of the Russian economy after the pandemic. The areas of applicability of composite indices, characteristics of the methodology and the validity of the estimates obtained are analysed. Particular emphasis is placed on the application of composite indices for regional policy purposes, which is especially important for Russia to achieve mediumterm national goals (until 2030) in the regional context.
