The issues of developing export activities as one of the most important conditions for the sustainable development of the Russian economy have become significantly relevant amid growing sanctions. The paper defines the ways of modifying Russia’s strategic export priorities, identifies untapped opportunities to boost export activity, and works out a list of export-oriented areas for producing competitive products. Furthermore, proposals for the development of foreign economic relations are formulated, and criteria for selecting potential partner countries under free trade agreements (FTA) are defined. The findings may be of interest to researchers specializing in foreign economic activity, as well as to relevant executive authorities at the federal and regional levels.
