Abstract

The article is devoted to the role of the gas sector in deepening economic cooperation between Russia and the countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Th e growing demand for gas (in particular, for liquefied natural gas) in the countries of the region is noted. Th e analysis of the main strategic documents of the Russian Federation (Energy Strategies, Long-term LNG Production Development Program) revealed Russia’s focus on expanding economic cooperation with the Asia-Pacific countries through the export of liquefied natural gas. At present, new opportunities for cooperation between Russia and the Asia-Pacific region in the framework of trade in gas arise. However, new risks are also emerging, caused mainly by geo-economic instability and the post-COVID recovery of the economies.
