The accession of five new countries to the BRICS in 2024 has created new opportunities for international economic cooperation, including in the food sector. For Russia, as Chairman of the BRICS Summit in 2024, the inclusion of food security in the priority list is of particular importance. Having achieved a high degree of self-sufficiency in food, Russia has the opportunity not only to share relevant experience, but also to expand its presence in the food markets of the BRICS countries. The association formulated the main areas of cooperation in the food sector and outlined specific ways to facilitate it. The new member countries are characterized by a wide range of both economic fundamentals and food supply data. This has created not only additional opportunities for the development of food trade, scientific, technical, and investment cooperation, but also identified new challenges, including ensuring food security.
