Abstract

The article studies the determinants of competitiveness of the South Korea nuclear power and industry complex that led to Korean consortium win headed by KEPCO in the competition to obtain the contract for the construction of the first nuclear power plant Baraka in United Arab Emirates. Although South Korea and the UAE are newcomers on the world nuclear energy market, the Baraka NPP is implemented in compliance with schedule and budget limits, which does not widely occur when megaprojects in the nuclear power sector are built. This megaproject is an exceptional example in the history of the Korean and world nuclear power sector.
