Abstract

The article describes the main features of the German national innovation system (NIS) and gives an analysis of the country’s innovation potential and competitiveness. Special attention is paid to the German government’s latest policies and initiatives to boost the innovation activities, including the High-Tech Strategy for Germany. Of interest are new decisions to promote high-tech small- and medium enterprises, cooperation ties between science institutions and business, etc.
