Abstract

The author proves that the Republic of Belarus serves as a very important link connecting the network of Russian gas pipelines to European markets. The Russia-Belorussia gas relationship leaves much to be desired. Gazprom launched a campaign aimed at transferring its gas relations with all CIS states including Belorussia onto the market basis. The campaign triggered a sharp deterioration in Russia-Belorussia relations. This article is devoted to the issue of adaptation of mutual gas relationship into new business conditions and the development of new fields in cooperation between two fraternal states.
