Abstract

The article analyzes the role of the US dollar in world fi nances, the use of dollar in foreign reserves and international transactions, the demand for US Treasuries among foreign investors is examined as well; the prospects of the US dollar position as a reserve currency and currency for international settlements are given with the alternatives taken into consideration.
