Abstract

Based on a sample analysis of exports and international positioning of goods of the Ural economic district 1909-2020, with marking out the 6 periods, a set of indicators for assessing the macro-region’s export success was derived. It includes indicators of volume, commodity and geographical structure of exports; success at international exhibitions; the share of largest exporters, including engineering industry; export capacity of production, including engineering industry, and its distribution among macro-regions. The indicators were tested on selected examples from different periods of economic development. Export support institutions could use the indicators in assessing the export position of the regions.
