Abstract

One of the main goals of the energy policy of U.S. President Donald Trump is to secure global energy dominance and it significantly reshapes the global energy sector. To achieve global American ambitions US energy resources are expected to be mobilized and promoted on global markets. The prospects for creation of a reliable world energy supply system depend heavily on the interaction between Russia and the United States in this area. At the meeting on 16 July 2018 in Helsinki between V.Putin and D.Trump, the Russian President said that America and Russia are important «oil and gas powers» and could cooperate more closely in regulating global energy markets in future. The European Union is the leading partner in the energy sector for Russia. A significant part of Russian energy is sold on the EU energy markets. However, the energy policy of D. Trump causes changes in cooperation between Russia and the European Union in the energy sphere.
