Abstract

The evolution of the global ICT market since the late 1990s is considered in the article. The author analyzes the causes of the increasing role of ICT in providing efficiency and competitiveness of the economy as well as in forming the human capital. The terminology of the name of the market in English and Russian is explained. Of the components of the ICT market particular attention is paid to machinery and equipment, named in the text as ICT-devices. The dynamics of production, international trade and application of ICT-devices are characterized by the statistics.
