Abstract

The role of international road transport in promoting foreign trade and economic relations of Russia is determined; the importance of motor transport for the formation of the Common Transport Space of the Eurasian Economic Union is estimated. The designation, functions and elements of the TIR system for the purposes of customs clearance of foreign trade and transit cargoes by road are defined. Th e volumes of international road transportation of goods using TIR Carnets have been determined. The current issues in the functioning of the TIR system in Russia are revealed. Tendencies of further regional expansion of the TIR system in the world are estimated, including development of intermodal container transportation of goods involving road transport.
