Abstract

The article deals with the features of the current foreign trade insurance system in Japan. There is correlation between the phases of the country’s foreign trade development and the major stages of its economic growth underpinning the structural and operational changes and, thus, improvement of the Japanese foreign trade insurance system. The structure and activities of the state owned export credit agency NEXI (Nippon Export and Investment Insurance) are defined in the article. The positive effects of the foreign trade insurance system transformation in Japan, which enabled the government to withdraw from budgeting for insurance operations, are emphasized.
