Abstract

The article is about the enhancement of Russia's participation in multilateral organizations and forums during the last two decades. The author analyses the benefits and costs that result from the participation, including the forthcoming joining the WTO and the OECD. The necessity to raise the effectiveness of the participation, which would allow strengthening the country's position in the global economy, is stressed. Although it would imply greater expenditure in foreign currency. The author expresses some ideas about the methods of increasing the effectiveness of the participation and proposes to insert the special section - "Optimization of Russian membership in multilateral organizations and forums" into national programs of the development of international economic relations.
