Optimization of Russia’s membership in the WTO

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of some ways to make membership of Russia in the WTO more effective. First of all the stress is made to the necessity of thorough study of the WTO documents with the international trade rules, containing not only the obligations for members, but also the exemptions from obligations. The author considers opportunities to increase Russian export not only of industrial goods, technology and services with innovative content, but also of some traditional and new international competitive agricultural products, provided that the state support is substantial and effective. In conclusion the author characterizes the means of import restrictions if it is required to defend the internal market from excessive and unfair competition and for reasons of security.
