Abstract

December 16, 2011 after 18 years of long and difficult negotiations, Russia was officially admitted to the WTO. In the article the author tries to answer the questions why the negotiations lasted so long, how Russia and its business benefited in the result of the accession, what impact of the EurAsEC Customs Union on Russia’s membership to the WTO is going to be. The author also emphasizes the importance of the new tasks the government and business are going to face due to the WTO membership, such as studying the accumulated experience of member countries, staff training and etc.
