Abstract

The article analyzes the creation of a new format of cooperation in the Asia-Pacifi c Region - the East Asia Summits, which were initiated by ASEAN for the multilateral interaction with the outside world and are now highly specific form of extra-regional cooperation for the modern global world. The need to increase the participation of Russia in the dialogue format is determined by some objective factors, primarily the gravitation of our country towards the region, the possibilities of cooperation with the APR countries, the geographical expansion of multilateral cooperation of Russia. Intensification of dialogue and cooperation between Russia and the EAS could lead to strengthening the position of our country in the region and may be an alternative to possible Western restrictions for Russia's participation in the development of global and regional rules in the geopolitics.
