Abstract

The article analyzes positions of the leading integrated groups in the international trade during the first decade of the present century. It states that in general their share in the world trade transactions is falling, and the main reason is the expansion of the developing countries in the world markets. The article stresses the twofold role of the functioning of these groups. On the one hand it undermines the most favored nation treatment basis, and on the other hand, it forms favorable conditions for spreading trade freedom all over the world.
